MULTIPLE USE FORMULATIONS ACROSS MULTIPLE DENTAL SPECIALTIES

PhytoDental Solutions products have been designed by a dentist, a physician and formulation chemists to reduce inflammation, infection, and recovery time associated with dental disease and procedures.

The availability of multiple use formulations across multiple specialties with the implementation of additional advanced technologies will disrupt dental practice as it is now allowing for truly personalized dental care through precision dentistry.

CANNABINOIDS IN DENTISTRY

Dentists perform multiple procedures resulting from a limited number of pathogenic states as a result of disease or response to dental procedures requiring treatment. Therapeutics supplied to dental practices have not been designed by dentists who recognize this commonality. Cannabinoids offer a common therapeutic approach.

THE LINK BETWEEN ORAL AND SYSTEMIC HEALTH

Like the blood-brain barrier, but more penetrable, the oral mucosa serves as a barrier to the systemic blood supply. Breakdown of this barrier, as may occur with untreated gingival inflammation, if left untreated can result in periodontal disease with tooth and bone loss. Through this pathological process, even when in the beginning there is only slight bleeding of the gums, oral microbes can gain direct access to the systemic blood supply, with potential multi-organ consequences.

Periodontal bacteria in atherosclerotic “disease” (ASD) plaques have now been recognized to play a causal role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Bacteria from the mouth are estimated to be directly involved in 50% of heart attacks!
There is a reduced risk of prosthetic joint infection when gum disease is treated by the dentist in the weeks prior to surgery.
Pregnant women with periodontal disease are 7.5 times more likely to have low birth weight babies.
Poor oral health leads to 5 times greater risk of respiratory disease.

INNOVATIONS IN DENTISTRY

The dental space is prime for innovation. Current treatments are generally designed for the “average” patient. This one-size-fits-all approach overlooks associated risks and modifying factors for disease development and response to treatment being considered for the individual.

There have been few new dental treatments over the last 25 years. Although advanced technologies are widely available to most dental practices, dentistry has not kept up with significant advances in densitometric scanning, point-of-care (POC) genomics, artificial intelligence (AI) applications and cloud-based dental databases.
